Conformation
BKC offers two levels of conformation instruction for people interested in learning how to train and show their own dog. Conformation instructors all have 20 or more years of handling experience in the breed ring. This training will teach you how to train and present (handle) your dog in the show ring. Stacking, baiting, and ring procedure will be stressed. Beginner and advanced classes are offered. Junior Showmanship classes are also occasionally offered. Information about AKC conformation competition (dog shows)
Beginning ConformationThis class has an established curriculum and is geared toward the first time or beginning handler. It covers information on proper equipment, basics of showing a dog, how dog shows work, and how to enter your dog in a show, training and grooming tips, and more. Class size is limited to 12 participants. Advanced ConformationAdvanced class is more open in structure and works on a more advanced level focusing on the needs of the class participants. Class size is limited to 15 participants and "drop-ins" are allowed on a week-by-week basis if space is available. Junior ShowmanshipBKC offers a junior handling or junior showmanship class for younger people interested in learning the art of dog handling. This class focuses on building skills for junior handlers, children ages 8 and up (children younger that 8 may participate with the approval on the instructor). Junior handlers learn how to handle their dog, good sportsmanship and ring etiquette. |
